As Far As My Cat Will Follow

I wander the house not yet wanting sleep.
I look into my siblings' empty room.
And I hear the wind.
It sounds so soft and warm.
I think ill take a walk.

I don’t know where I will walk,
But...I think my cat will follow!

Walking with my cat.
I can't help but smile.
How far will she follow into this windy night?

The air is filled with the sound of leaves.
My cat looks around warily.
Perhaps she thinks she’s protecting me.

She is less determined to follow.
She does not know this place.
But she does follow.

I make weird noises for my cat.
It is our happy walking song.
She still follows.

I walk mockingly for my cat.
My legs are straight as I march.
She still follows.

She stops.
I continue walking.
She does not follow.
I turn around.
I make the song.
I walk the march.
She does not follow.

I return to her.
She looks home and meows.
I wondered where I would walk tonight.

I walked as far as my cat would follow.
